Family practice physicians have three additional years of specialized training in the fields of medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, surgical diagnosis and minor surgery, gynecology and psychological counseling. Emphasis is placed on preventative medicine and the comprehensive care of each family member. Family practitioners work with specialists to provide on-going care when necessary.
